The mission of the INFORMATION SOCIETY SECTION is to encourage the use of Information Technology and Telecommunications by Companies, Individuals and the Administration as both users and providers of services and content. This mission is set out in the initiative set up by the Basque Government, which has arranged a number of courses of action within the framework of what has been termed the "EUSKADI Plan in the Information Society".
SPRI, S.A. currently handles a number of programmes to encourage the use of Information Technology by companies and individuals in the Basque Country. The following provides a brief summary of the various initiatives:

- Acquisition of simple devices for connection to Internet: INTERNET ACCESO FACIL (EASY ACCESS TO INTERNET)
- Internet training for special groups: TRAINING CENTRES AND ACCESS TO INTERNET
- System of accreditation of basic knowledge of Information Technology: IT-TXARTELA
