The Centro of Desarrollo Empresarial of the Margen Izquierda CEDEMI, S.A. (Left Bank Business Development Centre) was incorporated in March 1997, following a commitment on the part of the signatories to the Inter-institutional Agreement for Revitalisation of the Left Hand bank of the River Nervión.
Prior to this agreement, the Authorities in Madrid and the Basque Country, together with the Regional Government of Bizkaia, Barakaldo Town Council and Bilbao Ría 2000, decided to provide joint support for the URBAN PROGRAMME in Barakaldo. This was approved by the European Union and, among other measures for social and economic regeneration, includes the Fifth Actuation, which allocates part of the budget to the creation of a Business Centre.
The share capital of CEDEMI, S.A. is fully and equally paid up by the Regional Government of Bizkaia and Sociedad para la Promoción y Reconversión Industrial (SPRI, S.A.)
Objectives:
The general objectives are to stimulate and promote the creation and improvement of new business activities, seeking out entrepreneurs, handling land and built-up units as locations for companies which create jobs
We must never forget that the main objective which led to the creation of CEDEMI, S.A. is to generate new jobs in the 11 Municipalities in the Inter-institutional Agreement for Revitalisation of the River Nervión (Zierbena, Muskiz, Abanto, Santurtzi, Portugalete, Ortuella, Sestao Trapagaran, Barakaldo, Erandio, Alonsótegi)
Courses of action:
- Participation in programmes for Occupational Training, Employment Guidance, Monitoring of Trained Human Resources etc
- Carrying out Projects together with innovative companies
